July with it's warm weather has rolled around again and the Dahlias are blooming like crazy! As I mentioned earlier, I had some trouble with my Dahlias this past winter. I am glad to report that as of today, all of them are now blooming.
Last year I paid no attention to size and planted them wherever I felt like it. As a result, I had some short ones in back that got completely shaded out by a few giant ones in front. This year I planned better and actually planted them according to size. So far so good. I expect they will get only bigger and better as the summer progresses.
I hope that this next winter they will actually all survive. It is such a pain to have to keep buying new ones each spring. I think that if it happens again, I will just find some other blooming plants and take the Dahlias out completely. In my yard, survival of the fittest is practiced rigorously.
