Title Change

I recently decided to change the name of this blog. There were several reasons, but namely, no one could pronounce the name. This is not surprising as Polakowski is quite a long name. Add the 'ville' onto the end and you've got a tongue twister. I remember the first time I saw it written. I had to go back to my kindergarten vocabulary lesson to 'sound it out.' Luckily the name is pronounced exactly as it's spelled. That is not true of all eastern bloc names. Ahem, I'm looking at you Gligorijevic and Siladjdzic. Don't even ask me how to pronounce these by the way.

There is a second reason however. I started thinking about what I really wanted this blog to consist of. When I started it, I wanted it to be a place where I shared my garden as well as gardening tips and advice. Eventually I planned for it to become more well rounded as I shared more aspects of my life. That second part hasn't really happened so much, partly because I feel like I have painted my self into a wall with the subject material. A change up was necessary to allow me more freedom.

As far as the new title goes, I have always liked the aphorism 'Life is a garden . . . dig it!' While those words seems a little trivial, I feel that the meaning is so much greater than that. To me, living life takes a lot of work and commitment. It requires tender care some times and drastic changes others. Some days are peaceful and enjoyable and others are hard and stressful. All of these things are also true about gardening. Gardening is man's attempt to control nature and chaos. While the results are beautiful, it is a struggle to get to that point and maintain it. That is why gardening is the perfect metaphor for life.

I am not completely set on this name as I thought about several other garden/life combos. What do you think? Does anyone else have any name suggestions for me? Any and all ideas would be appreciated!
