As of this morning,
William now weighs 29 lbs, has a head circumference of 19 3/4" and is
37.2" tall.
The other day we were at the bank and he was bored, so he started fiddling with my purse and exploring the contents. I have those Listerine breath strips in there and he found the pack and opened it up. I told him that he could have one, but that it might be too strong for him. I warned him that it would be like 'spicy toothpaste.' Well he proceeded to eat the strip anyway and about 5 seconds later his eyes got wide and panicky and he started breathing heavily and proclaiming "spicy toothpaste!" So I gave him some water (which happened to be cold) and of course that made it worse and he started freaking out more. Eventually the strip dissolved and he calmed down, but for several hours after that he talked about the 'spicy toothpaste' in a newly respectful tone of voice. I don't think he will be wanting to try that particular item again any time soon!
He is very polite lately. If I give him anything, or help him in any way, he always says, "thank you mom!" in a very sweet voice. He has also started saying "no thank you!" when you ask him if he wants something that he isn't interested in. He will also say 'please' and 'thank you' to Nora. Its very cute hearing those polite little words coming out of his mouth. He is such a sweet boy. He also gives hugs to Nora when she is upset and crying. Sometimes she likes it and other times she is just confused but its cute regardless!
He has been more and more interested in playing with Nora these days. He finds little games to play with her and seems to genuinely enjoy her company. I always wake her up first in the morning, and then once shes ready to go, I take her into Wills room to get him up. He asks that I put her into his crib, and they play together for a good 15 minutes each morning. His favorite game is 'doctor.' I'm not sure where he came up with it, but basically he will lay his head onto her lap, and giggle madly while she explores his head, face and hair with her hands. I believe he thinks that she is examining him like a doctor does, and thats where he came up with the name. I'll admit that I giggle to myself each and every time he asks to 'play doctor with Nora' though lol.
The kid is just a walking bruise lately. His legs and knees look like they have polka dots, they have so many little bruises, and he has scrapes on both knees, elbows, palms and his lip. He falls constantly and is just a klutz. On several occasions he has just walked right into the corner of a wall. He falls so often that I'm surprised that he still cries for as long and as hard as he does each time. Especially since his injuries are always relatively minor. Hes just sensitive I guess. That doesn't stop him from running on gravel at break neck speeds and jumping off of any elevation he can find and climbing anything he can like a little monkey. Hes a typical boy I guess!
This month has been just crazy around here. We put our house on the market and it meant that all of the toys had to be stored in the garage and the house had to stay as neat as a pin at all times, for about two weeks straight. I had to dole the toys out to the kids one at a time so that I could quickly clean up in case someone wanted to see the house at a moments notice (which happened a lot). There was a lot of disruption and a lot of days where we had to be out of the house all day, and both kid's nap schedules were thrown off. I thought with all of this Will would have a really hard time, but he was amazing. He never complained and even helped me clean up (though he also followed me around like a tornado creating more mess in his wake) at times.
Thankfully we think this process will be wrapped up soon and then we have to start the process of packing up the rest of our belongings and moving in a month. We will see how he handles that transition. Its not clear to me whether or not he actually understands that we will be living in the new house soon. He loves to go there and see "Will's room," but I kind of don't think he realizes that he will actually be sleeping in that room shortly. Heck its hard for me to comprehend at times! I have my fingers crossed that both kids are able to handle the stress of moving with as much grace as they have handled the selling process!
