As of this morning, Eleanor now weighs 18 lbs 5oz, has a head circumference of 17 1/2" and is 29.13" tall.
Shes a very independent little girl and is pretty good at entertaining herself and getting herself to where she wants to go. She goes up and down the stairs with ease (she comes down on her belly), she goes into other rooms and plays for 30-60 minutes at a time. One of the cutest things she will do, is to crawl up the stairs to her room, climb into the rocking chair, grab some books and her pacifier, and spend an hour reading to herself. I go up there to check on her periodically and shes just as happy as a clam up there! Its adorable!
On the other hand, she is also very clingy at times. When she is tired, or hungry or bored, she loves to stand at my feet, grab a hold of both of my pant legs, and follow me around the kitchen as I am trying to cook. It is most irritating. From what I hear from my mom friends who also have babies her age, its unfortunately very normal for her to be that clingy. Oh well! I am certainly looking forward to her walking. At least then she won't have to hold onto my legs to stand up!
She is getting sooo close to walking. She can stand up by herself and stand up unassisted for about 30 seconds at a time. She has taken up to 5 steps on her own as well. I think she just needs to gather her courage for the real thing.
She can eat whole chicken nuggets now and can also use a spoon (kind of). She LOVES stewed meat of any kind and will eat massive amounts by the fist full. She also loves fruit and will eat an entire orange or bunches of blueberries, strawberries or grapes. I am glad that she is still such a good little eater and is so good at feeding herself. It makes meal times so much easier!
Shes starting to say some words and use a little sign language. She signs "all done" after shes finished her dinner and wants to get down from her high chair. She says 'mama' and 'dada' and the other day she was stacking rings and got a ring on the post, then looked up at me proudly and made a sound that sounded like "I did it!" She can also clap, wave hello and bye bye and give high fives. She is also very into mimicking sounds and actions and does both regularly. Its very cute!
Her hair is getting much longer and I am very close to being able to put the whole thing into one ponytail, instead of just the Cindy Lou Who top knot. She refuses to wear any clips and will take off most headbands most of the time, so we pretty much have to keep her hair in a ponytail in order to keep it out of her eyes. I can't wait until its long enough to braid!
Nora is at the cutest age right now. She is small enough that she is still baby-like, but is starting to develop more kid like characteristics and personality. She has such a funny, vivacious and independent demeanor. She adores her big brother and loves to cuddle with Michael or I. She is definitely a people person and doesn't much like to be alone. She prefers to be wherever the action is. I just love her so much and am so glad she is part of our family!
