William 3.9

We live very close to this major road called Lake City Way. All along this road are various kinds of houses and businesses. Included in the businesses are car dealerships, Marijuana dispensaries, strip clubs and restaurants. In particular there is a burger joint called "Dicks," and a strip club called "Ricks." So we were finishing up dinner the other evening and Michael began talking about what we should have for dessert. Will chimes in, "I want to go to Ricks (strip club) and get a chocolate shake!" Michael and I chuckled and asked him if he meant 'Dicks.' Will said, "yes Dicks!"

I am pleased to report that Will is nearly 100% potty trained now. He has been day trained for about 8 months now, but just recently has been waking up from nap time and even first thing in the morning, completely dry! I wasn't expecting that to start happening for years so I am pleasantly surprised. So far we've transitioned him to pull ups during sleep time, so that in case he has to go, he can get them on and off by himself without our help. But if he can keep waking up dry regularly, I think I will be ready to try going completely diaper free. He is doing so well, I am so proud of him!

The other day I told him that we were having corn dogs for dinner, and Will responded, "I don't want corn dogs, I just want a plain hot dog!" I said, "you know Will, a corn dog is just a hot wrapped in sweet bread (bread is Will's favorite thing ever)." And Will said, "Oh! Corn dogs are my FAVORITE!" I had to laugh at that!

Michael always likes to joke that he is a ladies man. He will often ask Will jokingly, "Will, are you going to help me with the ladies?" And usually Will says, "no!" Well the other night his response was, "yes, I'm going to yell at them!" It was hilarious! I told him later that ladies like it when you talk nicely to them, and he responded, "yeah!"

He calls the merry-go-round, "mega-lo-round."

I asked him if he wanted to climb into bed, and he said, "Of course! I'd LOVE to!"

We were going into the house and he said to Michael and I, "come on kids, lets go watch tv!"

We were at target the other day and we asked him if he wanted to go on the escalator. He responded, "oh I would LOVE to!"

I have a friend who described her 3 year old as "bi-polar" the other day, and I feel like that is a perfect characterization. One minute is he shoving Nora into a wall for no reason, and crying constantly, and the next he is sweetly following all of my instructions and acting like the most loving and kind little boy in the world. I never know which kid I am going to get on any given day. I love him to death, but 3 has been hard. I am looking forward to when he is a little more emotionally stable and predictable behaviorally. I am starting to see glimpses of improvements so there is hope yet!
