William 4.7

There is not a ton new to report this month about Will. He is still my sweet, funny little guy. He is still obsessed with playing legos, and loves to build kits, then take them apart and reconfigure them in a million different ways, into ever more creative and new vehicles that he invents. For the most part he is into lego vehicles and adds tires to everything, but occasionally he will build structures too (like fire stations and whatnot).

We have been reading this book for the past few months, that is supposed to teach kids how to read. We are making our way through the book, and are already half way done. Hes doing so well and I have been careful to make sure that it is all led by his interest. I will ask him if he wants to do that book during story time (before bed), or if he'd rather read some other book. Michael and I take turns putting each kid to bed at night, and I've noticed that when its my turn to read with him, hes much more likely to select the learning to read book, than when its Michael's turn. I'm not exactly sure why that is, but I keep that in mind and always offer him the choice when I am putting him to bed. At this point though, he is able to read short paragraphs, and is learning punctuation, and new sight words every day! I am so proud of him!

Will (and Nora too actually) just went through a huge growth spurt and now he is in size 11 shoes and is wearing size 5T. I have been trying to wait to give him the new clothes I bought him in the next size up, until next fall though, because he is SO hard on his pants in particular. I don't want him wearing holes in next year's clothes before the next school season even starts. So for now the poor guy is wearing highwater pants with the waist let all the way out, and most of the knees have been triple patched. In a couple of months he can wear shorts and it wont matter as much. I had to even buy triple the amount of pants for this next year, as I did last year. Apparently 5 pairs just wasn't enough. Despite me double and triple patching everything, I still had to throw away 3 pairs and hes down to just two now!

William has been doing a lot better with playing nicely with Nora lately. It might be because we have been having lots of talks about being kind, but hes also seemed to mellow out a bit lately, thank goodness. It might also be that she is starting to talk a bit more, and so can interact with him directly better. Whatever the reason is, I am glad that there have been fewer injuries and fewer conflicts in general!
