Spring . . . so close!

Changes are starting to happen more and more in the landscape of our yard, albeit slow ones. The weather is (I guess) typical for February, but it was so much warmer last year at this time. I guess I just hoped this year would be the same. However, last spring and summer also totally sucked temperature and rain wise, so I will take a chilly February if it means a nice, mild spring and warm summer. After looking at some pictures of the yard last year at this time, I determined that we are about 3 weeks behind (plant growth wise). This makes me sad.

The good news however, is that compared to a few weeks ago, things are really growing out there. Remember that I thought 20-30% of my plants died last winter? Well, that number is actually more like only 10%! I've been thrilled to discover several times that "dead" plants that I had dug up were actually alive. This is all very good news! Anyway, I took some pictures that clearly compares the changes. Enjoy and have hope that the new season is nearly upon us here in the Pacific Northwest (sorry north easternern and mid-westerners).
