This last week has had some very spring-like temperatures and more sun then we have had in 150 days (according to the weather service). The plants have responded accordingly and are just now, beginning to grow in earnest. Even though my yard is full of flowers ranging from tulips, hellebore, primroses and daffodils, it is the leaves that I find to be the most beautiful this week. Amazing colors and textures that rapidly change as the plants emerge ever further. Some plants start off red and change to green, others are pink and change to white while still others are orange but will change to yellow. There is much to be admired about the less noticed aspects of spring growth: foliage that is truly fantastic!
