This first post will be dedicated to poppies, specifically Oriental poppies (I also plan on doing a future post on annual poppies). I did a similar post last year because I just love poppies so much! Perhaps that stems from my love of the Wizard of Oz and that famous poppy scene. To this day I will smell my poppies, half hoping to feel "so sleepy." Perhaps if I took opium while smelling the poppies that would work, anyway, I digress . . .
I have quite a growing collection of them (six at last count) and just can't seem to get enough. I only wish that they would last a little bit longer.
Luckily, having multiple plants somewhat spreads out the bloom length as they all bloom at slightly different times. The last one is just about to finish and even though I have a TON of flowers in the garden right now, I will surely miss these beauties.
