Dyeing Crocs

Last fall I bought Will an adorable pair of Crocs rain boots. I loved these boots because the color was great, they repelled water excellently and they were super light weight. He wore the heck out of them, rain or shine. They were also light enough that he could get away with wearing them during the warmer months, which was nice, because it kept the bark splinters (from the park) out of his feet, unlike his sandals. Unfortunately his feet grew a ton this summer (from size 6 in April to size 8 in October) and the boots were no longer going to fit him for this upcoming winter. So I reluctantly bought him another pair. The bad thing about kid's shoes is that they are SO bloody expensive, and they are worn for such a short amount of time. It kills me. So whenever possible I have been buying gender neutral shoes so that I can pass Will's down to Nora. In the case of these boots however, I just LOVED the blue color on him, and didn't necessarily want to put Nora in the same...

Valentine's Day

It baffles me how worked up people get over this day. This doesn't happen during St. Patrick's Day; perhaps because beer, and not jewelry is expected. Still though, whether you love it or hate it, I just can't see getting emotional about Valentine's Day. I do remember being single and feeling vaguely sad about not having someone to share it with, but I certainly wasn't ripping my hair out and bemoaning my sad fate to every passing person. Even now that I do have someone to share it with, I don't have a tantrum if I don't get flowers, candy or dinner. I think its nice to experience some of these things, but I will never make a big deal about it. If it happens, it happens. Frankly, my favorite part of this day is getting (and writing) a sweet card from my husband, telling me all sorts of wonderful things including how much he likes my legs (I always giggle at this, I can't help it). New Skills and Changes

1). He can now walk when we hold his hands. He raises his feet and steps really high, like he is marching in a parade or something. To see him making little steps with his feet is the cutest thing ever. Plus walking him all over the house, tires him out and brings nape time even closer! 2). He can sit longer than ever, up to 20 minutes at a time. In fact, he hasn't fallen back in about a week! He sat in the child seat in a grocery cart the other day, and all of the ladies in the store were going gaga for him. I think he liked looking around at everything and trying to grab stuff on the shelves. He can even sit upright (without a bath chair) in the tub. I haven't removed his seat permanently yet as I worry about his stability in the slippery tub. 3). He can make the 't', 'th' and 'd' sounds. He has been practicing every day and said something very similar to 'dadada' or maybe 'taataaataa' the other day! 4). We have started to int...
