As the title says, after waiting for 12 months, the City of Seattle FINALLY issued us our construction permit today! To say we are beyond ecstatic (and simultaneously exasperated) is an understatement. We actually had the final approval last week and it took until today to get the actual permit issued. The city loves to work at a glacial pace it seems.
Now the next steps are:
- Get the demolition permit (we thought that it would be issued together with the construction permit, but since it wasn't we hope the wait won't be too long).
- Get the water and power disconnected (they have been hooked up this whole time as per city rules, and we have been paying monthly bills. Yet another lovely thing about this whole process).
- The builder has to do some erosion control and site set up and inspection.
- We have to hire an arborist to cut the trees down before they can set up a temporary power pole for use during construction.
- Set up said power pole.
- Clear the site
- Begin building!
***Update as of 10/16/14***
We now have the demolition permit and the power has officially been disconnected from the house. Now its time to get a site plan going and get those trees down!
