House Update #13

Despite facing a few more setbacks this week (several of our contractors have been just slammed with work and unable to fit us into their schedule), there has still been a little progress at the house. Most of the electrical work has now been complete and all of the switches are in and the lights hung. The counter top people came and installed all of the counter tops, with the exception of the island in the kitchen. We were waiting for the kitchen sink to arrive and that too got delayed, so they will have to come back and finish the island later. The ones that are in though look fantastic! The master bathroom is also coming along.

We had a bit of a mishap there on Monday though. Over the weekend, someone forced their way through a locked back door, and went upstairs and stole the tile guy's saw, grinder and polisher from our master bedroom. This is the second robbery we've had as back in February, someone broke into our shed and stole some things. Its surprising because the neighborhood seems SO safe. The police man we talked to when we filed the police report, recommended that we get a loud alarm system. I think we will have to do just that. Its scary to think of someone doing the same while we are actually living there! I just felt terrible for the tile guy though. He is the nicest man, and had JUST bought the saw like 2 days before that. He was just cleaned out! We got lucky that whoever took his stuff, didn't try to steal any of the appliances or other tools stored in the garage. What a crappy thing to have happen!

Anyway, as you might imagine, that delayed work a little too. So the builder's are thinking that it might be more like the middle to end of June before everything is complete. But thats fine by us, because in the mean time, we are gearing up to try and sell our current home and have been very busy packing, cleaning and meeting with our agent (on top of me caring for two kids and Michael busy with Medicare season). Its been a madhouse around here!

Here is a picture taken just 24 hours after the first kitchen picture above. They have already nearly completed the tile back splash! It looks fantastic!
